The 52mm alpha II Protector Filter from Hoya has a slimmer frame and better glass than the predecessor version. It also features six layers of coating for optimal image quality. (The previous version was called alpha UV filter because it also offered UV protection.)
Allowing 93.7% light transmission, the alpha II Protector Filter is a solid multi-purpose filter that can be left on the lens at all times for protection. Leaving out premium features like UV protection, optical glass, and a hardened, waterproof top layer, the alpha II Protector Filter is designed as an entry-level protective filter for those starting out in photography.
